The Home Of Henry Ford To End The Tour!!

Ford Motor Company has been a national treasure since 1903. Ford gave Americans jobs, pride in a company, the assembly line, and most importantly American made cars. For our final stop in the tour we are stopping at the home of Founder Henry Ford. Greenfield Township, Michigan is ready for the tour by having Mayor Ali Goshgarian come in to speak about the importance of Henry Ford.

Not only did he do an amazing job by supplying jobs to hundreds and hundreds of hard workers but he did it the right way" said Goshgarian, who is in her 8 year as mayor," Ford made this town what it is today and although he is long gone, his spirit and determination still exists today."

Ford established a working class mentality and made sure Americans were working.

Ford Wins By A Nose!!

This week our Ford Driving Across America Tour brings us to Louisville, Kentucky for Derby Week. For those who are not familiar with this week, it is Louisville's biggest event of the year. Derby week kicks off with the Republican Bank Pegasus Parade. During the parade, Ford Motor Company was the Grand Master. Horse Jockey John R. Velazquez came in style, instead of riding a horse, He pulled up in a brand new 2012 Ford Fiesta. Velazquez just came off his Kentucky Derby victory riding horse Animal Kingdom. Like his winning horse, Velazquez understands all Ford vehicles must have the winning power similar to riding horses.

" Obviously I ride fast transportation, whether its horses or cars, I like to move fast" said Velazquez, who stands at 5'1, "My Ford Fiesta is small, great on gas, and cost effective but most importantly has the power to get me through anything."

Velazquez is the winner of the 137th Kentucky Derby. In 2007, Velazquez also walked away with the win at Belmont Raceway.

Ford Motor Tip of The Day:
Preserve your car during long-term storage If you are not going to use your car for more than a month, store it properly to prevent unnecessary damage and repairs upon your return.

• Fill the gas tank to help prevent condensation from accumulating in the gas tank. Add a fuel stabilizer and drive the car around a bit to distribute the additive to engine parts.
• Wash and wax the car thoroughly to protect the finish.
• Place a vapor barrier on your garage floor. A 4-mil polyethylene drop cloth will do.
• Disengage the parking brake to help avoid brake corrosion.
• Put the car on jack stands to take the weight of the vehicle off the wheels and tires.
• Disconnect and remove the battery to keep it from draining. Place the battery on a trickletype charger. Or periodically drain the battery, using a small light bulb, and then recharge it with a low-volt charger.
• Plug the tailpipe with a rag to prevent moist air from infiltrating into it.

The Ford Driving Across America Tour is driving into New Orleans, with a patriotic feel. After Sunday's news about the death of Osama Bin Laden, Americans have gathered to take part in the patriotism. Ford CEO Pedro Rivera attended the event to speak about Ford's dedication to the American Dream.

Because of Nashville's musical history we though it would smart to have some talent come and grace the Ford Driving Across America Tour. We kicked the show with a performance from Grammy Winner Taylor Swift!!

Swift kicked off the tour with her hit singles "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story". The country star pulled up to the event driving a new 2012 Ford Taurus. She enjoyed driving it so much, Swift had no choice but to support Ford Driving Across America Tour.

Our journey has been a long one, and we plan and continuing the ride. This week our tour brings us to Boise, Idaho, where Idahoans enjoyed a jam packed day full of fast cars, Oscar Mayer Hot dogs, and  wrestling superstars. Did you just wrestling? oh yes I did!! Idahoan Torrie Wilson and fellow wrestler John Cena came to lay the smack down on the Ford Driving Across America tour.

Both WWE superstars pulled up in their brand new 2012 Ford Super Duty. Wilson, who grew up in Boise, knows how important it is to drive a powerful vehicle such as the Ford Super Duty.

"Living in Boise my entire life, I grew up on a farm where we would plow and do all types of farm stuff" said Wilson, who has been wrestling since 2001," I know my Ford Super Duty gets me to where I need to be."

Both Wilson and Cena helped teach safety to children inside and out the ring. Cena is another wrestler who decided to take part in the tour because he believes Ford Motor vehicles have the toughness to compete.

"Honestly my (Ford) Super Duty, represents me the best" said Cena, who is the current WWE World Champion," I'm tough, strong, and I take no from anyone and so does my truck."

Bobcats On The Proll For Ford!

Another week, another city, this time our tour lands us in the heart of the Carolinas. We brought the new fleet of vehicles to Raleigh, North Carolina. The Ford Fans were in full force as we hosted our largest crowd yet of 60,000 spectators outside the Times Warner Cable Arena! To help kick of the event we had Michael Jordan, owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, and his team come out speak on persistence, safety, and awareness can get you to your lifetime goals.

"You need to be the best individual you can be and make sure your safe and in the best company"said Jordan, first former NBA player to own an NBA team," I know on the court and off the court, Ford Motor Company is top line."

The Bobcats enjoyed a day of signing autographs, showing off their jump shot, and enjoying some Oscar Mayer hot dogs. Oscar Mayer delivered free hot dogs to everyone, as well as handing out free Oscar Mayer T shirts.

Cars were selling left and right, but the car of the day is the 2012 F-150. People from all gathered around to test drive the truck and needless toi say everyone was impressed. Paul Simpson of Raleigh knows the new F-150 is perfect for him.

"I love this truck, I work on a farm so I have no problem driving driving through slush and mud" said Simpson, who previously owned a Ford F-150," The new additions to the truck made me go out and update my Ford."

Seattle, Washington is the home to Starbucks coffee, the Space Needle, and Seattle Mariners Baseball. This week however, Seattle is home for Ford Motor Company and the Ford Driving Across America Tour.

The day began with an opening speech by Seattle Mariners Ichrio Suzuki. The 11th year MLB veteran spoke about the differences between Toyota and Ford, as well as why Washingtonians would suit best driving a Ford.
"As a Japanese man many, people assume I would drive a Toyota, but when it comes to style, safety, and Eco-friendly vehicles, Fords are the cars I drive" said Suzuki, who attended the event before the Mariners hosted the Texas Rangers" I know Washingtonians will enjoy driving these cars around."

The smell of fresh coffee was in the air but it was the overwhelming smell of Oscar Mayer hot dogs at the ball park keeping the crowd happy. The event was a success as everyone in attendance received a free hot dog and an Oscar Mayers coupon, in which customers saved $2 on every pack of Oscar Mayer ballpark hot dogs.

This week the Ford Driving Across America tour brought us to Omaha, Nebraska. We were greeted by 10,000 Omaha residents ready to test out some new cars. Mayor Jim Suttle presented Ford CEO Pedro Rivera and Oscar Mayer CEO Justin Grant with the key to the city of Omaha.

"Both these men have made great strives for the City of Omaha and America with this tour" said Suttle, who in fact drives a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid," I love my Ford Fusion and I actually tried the new Spanish hot dog by Oscar Mayer."

 Oscar Mayer unleashed their brand new Spanish Hot Dogs!! The highly anticipated hot dog was revealed in Omaha and was a smash hit. The hot dog is wrapped in flour tortilla and filled with three cheeses, Jalapeno peppers, and salsa dip.

 The Spanish hot dog was not the only futuristic idea released. Ford Motor Company released their plans for the 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The new hybrid includes Eco friendly seat clothes, new Hybrid performance, and energy flow display. Externally the 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid includes futuristic amenities including alloy wheels and space age design. To come speak on the space age technology featured in the new vehicle, NASA Astronaut Christopher J Ferguson stopped by the tour.

"I have been in space several times and have been around many shuttles, but this vehicle is the what I want to drive on earth" Ferguson said.

The new 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid is being sold for $28,500 but for attending the Ford Driving Across America Tour the Vehicle is being sold for $27,000, a savings of $1,500.

FORD MOTOR TIP OF THE DAY:
Don’t fill up if you see the tanker If you happen to see a gasoline tanker filling the tanks at your local gas station, come back another day or go to a different station. As the station’s underground tanks are being filled, the turbulence can stir up sediment. Sediment in your gas can clog fuel filters and fuel injectors, causing poor performance and possibly necessitating repairs.

Hawkeyes Love Ford!!

Our third stop on our Ford Driving Across America tour brought us to the University of Iowa. Ford motor vehicles lined up Kinnick Stadium as thousands of Iowa students came to the festivities. But we lead off the event with a surprise for the students as Iowa alumni, Shonn Greene and Ashton Kutcher pulled up to the event in style in their new 2012 Ford Expeditions!!

Shonn Greene and Ashton Kutcher kicked the event off with speeches about Iowa pride and the great work Ford Motor Company is doing.

"I'm a big fan of the Expedition, its big roomie and can fit me and the whole team." Greene said "I know it can even fit Rex (Ryan) in comfortably."

"I have a big family and I know im always driving them around I need the space and the expedition provides thats." Kutcher said " No doubt in my mind Ford picked the best university for this event."

Oscar Mayer handed out free hot dogs and t shirts to the first 4,000 people to attend. The Expedition was the car of the day as Ford sold over 100 Expedtions.

The 2012 Expedition includes independent rear suspension, power row 3rd row seating,  standard seating for eight, standard safety canopy system and the new voice activated Ford Sync.

The Expedition is priced at $37,995 but just like the students at the University of Iowa you get the Ford Driving Across America Price of $36,500. That is a savings of $1,495!!!

Next week our tour brings us to downtown Omaha, Nebraska. The event begins at 12pm runs to 5pm. Mayor Jim Suttle will be in attendance and a surprise will be here to drop in from outer space.

Ford Tip of The Day:

Keep an auto log Keep a pad and pencil in your Ford Motor Vehicle glove compartment and use them to record your gas fill-ups and mileage. If you notice that your gas mileage worsens, mention it to your service man. It may be an early warning sign that something is wrong with your car.

Eminem Keeps the Tour Moving In Detroit!

The day kicked off with excitement Hot dogs were eaten, Cars were test driven, and Eminem rocked the show. This was Eminem's first time performing with Ford Driving Across America.

"I really enjoyed myself and I know the fans had a great time driving those cars too." Eminem said, who is a Detroit Native," I'm happy to Help out Ford, I drive two Ford Mustangs so it was easy to help out a company I believe in."

The car of the day turned out to be the 2012 Ford Flex. The event sold 37 Flexes and Ford fans were excited about the new additions to the Flex. Sandra Rocsin owns the new Flex and is still smiling about the additions.

"I love love love love my new Ford Flex." Rocsin said " The new Flex is great, the new door panels and the new style is just awesome."

The new Ford Flex includes many new features includingtwo tone roof option, new titanium model, seating for 7, and new five star safety rating!

The 2012 Ford Flex is currently listed at $29,995 but if you come to Ford Driving Across America the Flex is reduced to $28,750 saving you a total of $1,245 dollars just for coming to the event and having a good time!

To end today's event Mayor Dave Bing gave a speech crediting Ford Motor Company for their efforts to bring thier vechiles to Americans all over the country.

Remember to clean off brake dust from your vehicle regularly from your Ford because
brake dust contains all sorts of nasty stuff. If you leave it too long, the combination of road grime, moisture and heat from your brakes will bake it on to your wheels.

First Stop Chicago , Illinois!!

So as Ford Driving Across America begins we take a ride to through The Windy for some motor fun. The event started at 11am at the Navy Pier and ran until 5pm. The day began with CEO's Pedro Rivera and Ed Mancuso both giving speeches on our new ford lineup presented at the event. We ended up selling 57 new cars!!

Families and friends turned out to the event making our first trip successful. Oscar Mayer Wieners kept the event moving successful keeping families happy and bellies full. Colin Horn from Aurora, Illinois had  fun with the entire family.

"I had such a amazing time with my family. Not only did i but the brand new Ford Focus but my little daughter won tons of prize sponsored by Oscar Mayers" Horn said.

What a great day we had at the Navy Pier and we have more surprises next week in Detroit, Michigan!! Not only will we raffling off a Brand New 2012 Ford Mustang, we have Detroit's own EMINEM coming to performing at Ford Field. The event begins at 11am and Eminem is set to perform at 3 so come early and be prepared for the car show.
